Why does my medication look different than my last order? Are generics any less safe or effective than name-brand?
It’s possible that your medication packaging changed. Or, you could have received a generic version of your birth control.
Generic medications are less expensive but equivalent versions of their brand name counterparts. If your insurance plan only covers the generic version of your prescription, that’s what we’ll send you. You can definitely request the name-brand of your medication, but please note that there is a high likelihood that you will have to pay more or your insurance plan may not cover it at all.
The FDA only approves generic medications after rigorous testing proves that it has the same active ingredients, dosage, efficacy, safety, shelf-stability, and side effects of the name-brand version.
